Motivation to get moving on a weekday differs for each person in my house. I am early riser, and I love getting up while the house is still asleep. I have one daughter that wakes up singing, “Good Morning, Lord!” while we drag the covers off my two other daughters grumbling, “Good Lord, it’s morning.” Since everyone wakes up differently at my house, motivation looks different too. All I have to do for Hannah is turn her light on, and shake her bed, but for my other two it takes alot more hugs and kisses to get them up, to get them dressed, and to get them the breakfast table.
Jesus struggled with his disciples motivation and their inability to focus with him. One of Jesus hardest days was praying in the garden before the cross. He shares that his “soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death.” He wanted his disciples to join him in prayer, but they kept falling into temptation to their own feelings and desires. “Could you men could not keep watch with me for one hour? Watch and prayso that you will not fall into temptation. The Spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” Matthew 26:40-41
Day three of LENT begins to reveal our feelings and our more natural desires. I have been using our LENT book to guide me, but I have also been using www.trumpetandtorch.com to guide me. Traci Alexander and Kathryn Wells have created a 40 Day experience to scripturally guide us. Listen to what Traci shares, “It’s the third day of your fast, and your body is realizing that this is not the way you usually do things. It will begin to protest and you will feel it. The enemy will invade your mind and tell you that this is not wise, not healthy, not natural. But this is not a natural journey; it is a supernatural one.”
As you surrender, submit to the way of Jesus. It is time to get up! A new day is here!
