Half way through is a tough place to be. The newness has worn off, and it is tempting to quit. Quitting half way through is no good either. It always leaves a what if? You never know what could have been if you stop now. “Would of, could of, should of is a long road with no turns!” Don’t tap out! Don’t quit now! You are half way there!
This week, you reach the midpoint in our 40 Day fast. Don’t lose heart! Don’t give up! I heard so many stories of people in our family that have taken a day or days to fast and seek God more during this season of LENT. The challenge in making a commitment is feel prideful in your success or despair if you cannot keep your commitment. Rest in Jesus through this commitment, and know that He knows your heart. Maybe you have been casual on this first leg, and now you need to really press in during these last 40 Days. LENT is more than giving something up. More importantly is what you have added to spiritual life because of LENT. I believe God wants reveal more stuff in you during the coming days. Don’t be afraid if things appear uglier as you go deeper under the surface. That is part of the journey.
In my torch and trumpet devotion today it shared, “Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, we can find Him in wherever we go, and there is no place we can go where he has not already been. Before Jesus began his three-year public ministry on earth, He himself fasted for 40 days and 40 nights. He fasted; he prayed; He faced temptation of the highest degree, yet He remained pure and holy.” Isn’t that great
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet was without sin.” Hebrews 4:15
The journey is just beginning!
