Still Reflecting on Easter

March 26th, 2008 by Todd

I have taken some days off this week to rest and connect with my girls.  As I reflect upon the glory of Jesus, and the glory of Easter morning, I keep thinking of a quote I was originally planning to share.

“What we think about when we think about God, is the most important thing about us.” A.W. Tozer

I wonder if the reason why so many of us struggle in life, is due to a low view of God or wrong view of ourselves.  I am afraid that many of us try to create God into our image instead of the other way around.  In making God from us, strips away His holiness and His soveriegn power and strength within our perspective.  The greater truth is that we have been made in his image [In the Hebrew = icon].

King David shares it this way, “What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?  You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.” Psalms 8:4-5

The word for “heavenly beings” is [elohim in the Hebrew].  This is the same word for God.  So God made man a lesser than Him in creation, but through Jesus we born into His family.

“For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed into His likeness of His son, that he might be the first born among many brothers.  And those he presdestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; and those he justified, he also glorfied.” Romans 8:29-30

Happy Easter!

(Special thank you to my four readers of the blog!)

When you mentioned that you only had four readers (right!) I wanted to let you know that I am one of them. So that makes it ‘five’. I look forward every few days to your latest entries and feel as though I am being ministered to throughout the week. Kind of an extension of the Sunday service. You have such an amazing way with words as they relate to our everyday lives and it allows us to understand what you are saying. After all, God didn’t give us the Word to trip us up and get us confused either. It guides us in our everday lives and leads us to Him. Thanks again and please continue blogging even if only ‘four’ people are checking in. By the way, Josh is now reading it from school, so you are to six. (smile)

I was visiting with my family and I hate I missed MABC’s Easter. But I was struck this past week with the fact that Christians have fallen prey to Satan’s greatest lie…that the power that raised Jesus from the dead does not apply to our circumstances. Stop to consider all the miracles of God throughout the Bible…creation, deliverance of the Israelites, leading them by cloud and fire, protecting Daniel, raising Lazarus…we can believe those miracles. But we walk through life buried in bitterness, regrets and dissapointments as if that power can not deliver us. The cross is real. The empty grave is real. I want to claim that power in my life and watch God be glorified there! He is holy and He is REAL!
