Be Still and Know I am God

March 28th, 2008 by Todd

Sorry for my silence this week.  I took the week off from work, and I tried to steer clear from emails and internet.  Today, Pam and I took our younger two daughters Lexie and Sydney to the National Zoo (Hannah has been working with KIDS 249 music recording all week.  Just for the record, Philip Linear and Neesa Hart are awesome!)  What a beautiful day for a picnic and Pandas!  I had forgotten how that zoo is uphill throughout the whole park (is that possible?)!  I love seeing things through the eyes of my kids.  Why do zoo animals make my kids squeal with excitement?  Hearing those giggles sure makes me smile.  Lexie said, “This was the best day ever (she says that often as of late), except for the Ape House and the Elephant pit because of the stinky smell!”

The Psalmist once wrote, “Be still and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10.  This past Sunday was a conclusion of a 40+ day journey preparing for Easter.  I knew I would need some time to recharge from this 40 day journey so I took time to “Be Still”.  I love the invitation God gives us to come close and sit with Him.  The rest of that verse concludes, “I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth” Psalm 46:10

When we position ourselves before God, and when we are willing to close our mouths and open our ears (and hearts), God is honored!  Let God be exalted in your heart today!

I gotta go, tonight it is time to be still before the TV.  As Dick Vitale would say, “It’s March Madness, Baby!!!”  Don’t ask about my bracket.   It is a mess after Georgetown lost last weekend.  I had Georgetown and UCLA in the finals with UCLA winning.
