Thanks for Sunday

March 31st, 2008 by Todd

I am so blessed to be a part of Mount Ararat.  This past Sunday, we were led in worship by our Gathering Band, and Chaplain Guy Lee.  Sunday we sang about God being light.  We declared God’s wisdom as an awesome God.  We called out to his glory!  After the service, God reminded me of a verse I read earlier in the week.

For God who said, “Let His light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.  2 Corinthians 4:6

This week I listened to a podcast by Ravi Zacharias.  He shared that the Hebrews looked for light.  The Greeks longed for knowledge, and the Romans valued glory.  In this one statement to the Corinthian church, Paul lifts up the life and work of Jesus to all!  That statement took on flesh and blood as we sang, Mighty to Save and Awesome God!  I was so encouraged when Guy Lee preached about evidence we have about Jesus.  He shared the leap between evidence and belief happens through faith.

I first trusted Jesus when I was 14 years old.  Thank you Britton family for leading me to Jesus.  I have never recovered from taking that leap!  What about you?  When did you take the leap?

As for me, I have this urge to go watch Indiana Jones!!!

Yes…the evidence is obvious in scriptures! Chaplain Lee shared the story of a man he knew whose Jesus was not the same as ours. Oh, that they may know! I had a best friend who had a different Jesus than I did. We met weekly for three years until my family moved here last fall. She set out to convert me, it didn’t work! I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, seeds were planted in love. It was my job to love her and give her truth and it was God’s job to change her heart. I knew I couldn’t do that. It only drew me closer to my Jesus. Being with fellow sisters and brothers in Christ is comfortable. I highly recommend spending time with others who believe in “something” else. It will stretch and grow you in ways you never thought possible. Leap of faith? Allow grace to rule and let’s jump!!

    Psalm 145:18
The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

I think I need to watch Indiana Jones too!

You are not the only one who feels blessed to be a part of Mount Ararat. I find new reasons to be thankful each day. Your blog is just another lifeline out there to recharge my batteries each day. Thanks Todd. I think there are many others out there who read your blog, but are not sure what to say and therefore don’t leave comments. Keep up the good work.
