After the artwork for the series was completed, we then gave it to Neil Smith (Video guy), and Gwen Curtis (My ministry partner).

Neil turned Artem’s art design into animation.  He created an office desk with cut-outs.  The amazing part is when the cut out pieces began to move.  In the middle of the desk was the To Do list.  The fan turns on and then creates the wind (Pneuma…hint hint) it moves the paper plane (Empowering the list to move forward) then revealing the words: Grace Rules!

We ran this roll-in trailer during all 8 weeks of the series.  My favorite part was the song used in the video.  It is the same song used in the new Apple computer commercial.  You know the commercial that laptop fits in a legal envelope.  I met Neil about three years ago.  He has created many of our videos that we have used over the past three years.  He is a graduate of George Mason, and he has been worshipping with us for a few years now.

Gwen Curtis is my right hand.  She is the brains behind creating the space for worship environment.  It is amazing how she can take the theme and the artwork and create a stage.  She creates wow in the way she takes a gym, and makes it come to life.  Her team created a twenty foot clip board, and six oversized paper planes hanging from the ceiling.  How does she build these sets?  I am so glad she leads teams.  She led a team to paint the side walls (by the way its Mango).  Everything in the service preaches the message.

Does Grace Rule in you?

Great posts on the creative process. Very “Schoolhouse Rock.”

Neil, Artem, Gwen and everyone else definitely deserve kudos for their efforts.

I am now looking forward to reading a blog post or two about the offering collection process! “Where the money goes” by Pastor Greg. ;-)

Many thanks to the creative team! Your arty enhancements to Todd’s messages add so much. The music and artwork (yes, even paper airplanes!)do an end run around my orderly, cognitive thinking and ignite my heart. Blessings to you!

    Hey Todd:

Check out the similarity between Mt. Ararat’s artwork for this series and that of Billy Graham’s latest special (http://www.billygraham.org/TV_Index.asp?QR=69&BA=1243)

The checklist analogy really speaks to the heart of our culture.
