Dust is Thick

syatp08.jpg

I am not the best at keeping my car clean.  I don’t mind washing my car or better yet going to 610 Carwash.  I never seem to think about it until it is too late in the day to do anything about it.  This week I noticed the back of car was more dirty than usual.  As a matter of fact, it was more dirty than the rest of my car.

It reminds me of a saying, “Dust of the Rabbi”.  This is a rabbinical statement in referencing how close one should be with their Rabbi.  A Rabbi would take his followers under his wing, and would teach him his “yoke” of the word.  His followers would live with, listen to, and would walk so close that the very dust kicked up from their rabbi’s feet would end up on their robes–hence the “dust of the rabbi”.  Ray VanderLaan has written much about this idea!  Check out his website

What I realized is that the white chalk dust on the back my Ford Explorer was from the gravel next to the prayer Tent.  My traffic patterns changed this week in driving up there several times a day to pray.  I don’t share that to brag, but to say I feel like I have “the dust of my rabbi” upon me.  I not working for or trying to earn something from God in living the practices of prayer and fasting.  Instead I am drawing near to God’s presence and simply enjoying being with Him.  I have a good feeling that there is more on me than dust on my car.

Stay close!

Had the opportunity to go to the prayer tent this afternoon (Friday.) What a blessing and a special time with the Lord! As I sat at the last station and prayed for our church and it’s leadership I couldn’t help but think of coming to MABC for the first time 20+ yrs ago. God has brought our small little chapel so far, how exciting to see the Greater Things Yet To Be Done! To Him Be the Glory!!
