How sad, but so true many people say they are Christian (I am not their judge, that is between them and Christ) yet you don’t see them in church or living as Jesus did in the bible. Then there are people even in church’s that just go to say they go to church!!! We need to as christians to stand up and show the love of Jesus even more! There are huring people everywhere that need the LORD!
Thank you for sharing this with us!!!
Encouraging article. It is saddening hearing about Christianity being on a decline and this gave the hope that Christians are as strong as ever, in spirit and numbers. I am glad that saying we’re Christians isn’t the “social benefit” that it once was. Being a follower of Christ has from early A.D. taken serious faith and courage and it should be no different today. The goats are no longer claiming to be sheep so the sheep have the chance to be radically different. As the article and Rachel pointed out, this time of moral decay is time to shine. I’ve long wondered if we shouldn’t really take a good hard look at all the activities we take part in, in and out of church, and figure out what is of utmost importance for the saving of souls that are dying and for the preserving and equipping of those who are already in Christ. What can we simplify? What load can we remove so that we can run faster and longer?
The Church is going to change.
I like Mark Driscoll’s vantage point. The harvest of souls is starting to show it is ready for picking–and our Lord is calling us out. Are we ready to step out of the church of today? The church standard of attending once a week will change for Jesus to come back to Earth– Guaranteed. To evangelise– we will do church differently in this electronic age of obese entertainment overload.
If we lived like our ancestors in the first century church, we would have no time for entertainment. Their passion for living daily was– laying everyhing on the line for the Lord Jesus– he called them–souls were being reborn and changed– this was Good News.
They saw him die and heard all the testimonies of what he had done for them, plus the new indwelling of the Holy Spirit propeled them forward.
We are the just like the first century church– today. Jesus is alive, the Holy Spirit lives in us– he has chosen us just like the believers in Acts. There are more people dying, and not going to Heaven to share in the Lord’s presence. We are the harvesters– there is not someone else doing this job.
Antidote for change. Try not watching one tv show every day–read the Bible for 30 minutes, pray for 10 minutes. If nothing changes in your life after 30 days, give up tv–read more of the Bible, pray more. God will visit you, guaranteed.
A simple prayer.
When we are going Lord, please go before us and make your path straight, let us Love the world like You do. Please give us opportunities to speak Your Name in all we do for Your harvest.
