Here are few sites of Manila, Philippines.  I just realized that I did not take enough pictures while there.  The purpose of the trip was a vision trip with International Justice Mission (IJM).  We were invited to join the trip because of our churches interest to address the scriptures challenge to justice.  Sharon Smith (retired FBI) and myself met up with a team of six in Manila and four more in Cambodia to explore the IJM field offices.  What IJM does is four pronged approach to answering the call.  They enter into countries that are ignoring or abusing justice.  Their role begins with investigation, moves to prosecution, then to conviction, and ends with aftercare.  The goal is not just to rescue, but prevent these acts from happening again through the legal system.  Their strategy is to mobilize nationals to carry out the cases, and their goal is to work themselves out of a job in each country.  I would love to show you pictures of the team, the clients, and the success stories, but due to sensitivity of the cases that would put too much at risk.  So you will have to settle with my pictures of the city of Manila.

Understanding the history of Manila was interesting.  What began as a Spanish Colony and then shifting to an American colony, Manila truly is a melting pot of a variety of cultures.  We even were served a maholo (ice drink with nuts, gummy candy, fruits, and a hint of coffee).  The people were extremely warm, and the clients shared such stories of hope.  It is powerful to see the resurrection story at work in the life of these young girls.  Our God is a God of rescue!
