Please pray for me as I begin my daily routine. Traveling in all these time zones this summer has messed up my body clock up. The past two weeks I laid down my workouts because I was not sleeping at night. After preaching my voice out yesterday, I finally crashed at 10:00pm. I woke up at 5:00am and made my early morning workout. It hurt, but felt great. Perhaps this means that my routine is returning.
Workouts are so important for me to maintain health and to manage stress. I need the circuit training along with long runs. I am hoping this week my patterns can begin again.
I even topped it off with a bananan and protein smoothie by the Magic Bullet (My Father’s Day gift from my kids).
Go workout today! You will be glad you did.

you Go Todd I am allergic to excercise it makes me break out in a sweat
. I will pray for you as you get back into a health routine.
I couldn’t agree with you more, Todd! I will pray that you ease back into your exercise routine without too much trouble!
Ha ha, Sharyn! I can’t wait to use that line. How many pastors would write about exercise on their blog at the exact time when I’m already feeling convicted about it? Apparently mine would…thanks for the confirmation/inspiration to get moving.
Working out should be a part of all our routines. The challenge is to MAKE time for ourselves against all the competing priorities the speed of life and work presents. A high stress schedule/environment screams for a little time each day to collect our thoughts and help to put proper perspectives on the things that sometimes weigh heavily on our heart and minds. On the other hand, work out time can also be be used as time to simply get away from the challenges life and work present to us.
I like how Rob defined time to ourselves as time to get our priorities straight. At least that’s how I read it. I agree with that. The general concept of needing “me” time, however, lately has started to annoy me. It doesn’t seem to fit in with the life Jesus lived. His solitude consisted of time with His Father and time with His friends and both were usually interrupted by needy people. Back to the workout–I’ve also been convicted lately in my role of wife/mom/homemaker to be more creative in exercise. This, combined with the wish that gyms were one big playground instead of rows of treadmills (so I haven’t grown up yet!) led me to this conclusion about exercise. It doesn’t have to pull us away from our families and responsibilies at home. We can go for a walk together. Or we can just play a rousing game of tag or ball together (or work in the garden, for that matter). You’re taking care of family time and exercise at the same time…and making a memory while you’re at it. Still sorting through this–trying to fit both fitness and togetherness in the daily routine.
you’re right exercise is a great way to manage stress. about 3 months ago i was really stressing out over the lack of work that i’ve had to the point where i was become anxious and was not able to sleep well. i knew that my only way out of this routine was to endulge myself in God. so i came up with a movement of healthier living. i invited some friends to join me in 30 minutes of excercise a day (we would text each other to make sure we all excercised that day) and each of us would take turns sending a daily scripture via text message. it was a great way for us to encourage each other. just thought i would share that because God got my mind off of my situation and focused back on Him. i remind myself that nobody is going to do it for me.
