This past Sunday, we began a new series, UP-N-OUT.  American culture is an easy place to do life and ministry.  There is nothing more American than hamburgers, ketchup and fries, milkshakes, and apple pies!  We live in a culture of feed me, give me, and serve me.  If we are are not careful, it all turns inward very fast.  Jesus has saved us and called us to live a life in another direction.

The first direction is UP.  What if we began our day with a series of questions?

  • God, what do you want me to think upon today?
  • God, what would you have my attitude to be?
  • God, will you help me prioritize my day?
  • God, how can I live for you today?
  • God, CAN I TAKE YOUR ORDER?

If we are honest, we usually live life demanding God to meet our needs more than longing to meet His desires.

How is that working for you?

    Todd,

To me, what you are saying is to begin each day with asking God to guide us. How simple yet profound. Doing this is the most fruitful way to start the day I think. Asking God to guide us rather than depend on our own earthly needs and wants, propels us in a direction of being more of the person God intended. Thanks for those thoughts.
