What if Jesus lived in your neighborhood?  Do you think He would have lots of people over?  I wonder if He would have an open door policy.  I am sure His yard would be nice.  Can you imagine going over to borrow a cup of sugar?  Do you think he would host the block barbecue?  Ok, maybe I am getting a little silly in my illustration, but my thoughts are, Jesus would definitely change my cul-de-sac.  The gospel of John shares,

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.  We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14

Eugene Peterson translates the verse to share, “The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.” John 1:14

God moved into my neighborhood when I was a teenager, through the Britton family.  They reached to my broken family, and the gospel made me whole.  I believe that Jesus lives in me (1 Corinthians 3:16).  Therefore, Jesus does live in my neighborhood.  As I join Jesus on his mission, may I connect with the change he brings in living on my cul-de-sac.

I am still singing the song Pastor Micah led Sunday, “Knowing you are here.”
