Jesus shares a parable about farmer scattering seed.  He describes how the seed falls upon four different types of soil: the path, rocky places, thorny places, and upon good soil.  He continues behind closed doors to share with his closest 12 the secret meaning of this parable.  We discover that he was really talking about the heart.

So when God’s seed (His Word) is being broadcast upon you, how are you receiving the Word?

  • Along the path = birds came and ate it up [UNRESPONSIVE]
  • Rocky places = not much soil, grew up quickly and burned up since is had no root [IMPULSIVE]
  • Among thorns = grew up and choked out, and it didn’t produce grain. [DISTRACTED]
  • Good soil = grew and produced a crop of 30, 60, 100 times. [RESPONSIVE]

How is your heart?  Are you growing?

When did you first trust Christ as Lord (Become a Christian)?  What was the year?

Since that time, how have you grown?  Who have you led to the Lord?  What has your life produced?
