Mark 9:2-13
Jesus takes Peter, James, and John upon the mountain and gives them a glimpse of glory. These three disciples watched Jesus, Moses, and Elijah have a conversation.
- MOSES = Law *Check out Exodus 24 & 24
- ELIJAH = Prophets *Check out 1 Kings 19:8-18
How does Jesus relate to Moses and Elijah?
What did Jesus come to do?
Was Jesus just a teacher (Rabbi)?
Was Jesus just a prophet?
“Remember the law of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel. See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.” Malachi 4:4-6
400 YEARS OF SILENCE—————————————-
“and so John came, baptizing in the desert region and preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.” Mark 1:4-5
“But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe…” Romans 3:21-23
I believe God was revealing to Peter, James, and John where Jesus stood in relationship with the Law and the Prophets. I believe he was affirming Jesus identity and authority!
“This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to Him.” Mark 1:7
Is it time elevate?
Do you need a glimpse of his glory?
