Christ have mercy.
You sit at the right hand of God
Interpreter of truth
dispenser of gifts,
advocate of sinners.
But we dodge the truth
doubt the gifts
discount any need of Your advocacy.
Have mercy.
We glory in Your creation, Father:
in your buying us back from the pawnshop of death: Christ.
In your supporting: Spirit of uplift.
But we do not make this clear to men on earth.
Rather do we grossly defile your creation, lightly presume on what is cost You to win us back
til we assume it is out zest and jollity that keeps us high.
Have mercy.
Give us substantial faith.
Even before we call, you are answering
and you are hearing right now.
We have been quickened, nothing delays our rejoicing.
We have been made clean,
a right spirit even now invades our minds and courses through our veins.
We are strong, on firmest ground, and free.
We have come again to festing and festivities
radient with new clothing.
Smothered with Your kiss of peace.
