This year we distributed over 200 boxes to bless 200 families at Christmas. Boxes were taken by individuals, families, and small groups. I would love to hear more about how blessed you as you moved out in this project. Take time to share your story here:

We delivered our Christmas box Monday night to a lovely young family in the western part of the county. The modest home was tastefully decorated for Christmas and we found the family of four inside a clean, warm and love-filled home. Though there was no outward indication that this family was in need we found that medical issues had created a significant financial hardship. I am not sure how they get by at all. But the young lady had a 1,000 WATT smile that belied any medical issues or financial strife, and it was clear that both the parents were being very courageous through the challenges. Initially the husband and wife resisted what they felt was “too much” noting that there are others much more needy in the county. But we asked them to please let us share the love of Christ and accept the boxes. Through tears and hugs all around we shared the joy of Jesus, and it was clear that these young, new Christians are leaning on Him to get them through! When we left, we were absolutely certain that we were the ones who had been blessed. Thanks for this opportunity to share Christ’s love. It left me wondering what more we can do.
Our Thursday night ladies homegroup gathered last Thursday to worship Jesus through song and gifts in the name of Jesus to a family of 4. The family welcomed us all in their small trailer. After we carried in several boxes … two sweet little girls entertained while we waited for part of our party whose GPS had been programed incorrectly. The atmosphere was of love and cheer. It was apparent that our efforts were needed and appreciated. When we all finally arrived ..we sang a Christmas Carol with rejoicing. It was a joy that rang true for the moment and continues to bless with each chance of reflection through these busy but blessed holidays.
May God be praised! We have a glorious Savior and HIS name is JESUS!
Our family ‘adopted’ two families for the Christmas box ministry. My son, Matt, and I had the blessing of delivering to both recipients on Thursday afternoon. The first was a single woman who lives in the trailer park that Compassion Restoration has been working with. Sue was very appreciative of the food and gifts. We told her that it was all God’s provision for her — that we were simply being His Hands and Feet! About an hour later we brought four boxes of food and a box of toys and decorations for a young family who have recently lost their home due to lack of work. We were again able to share that everything was from His Hands and that we were simply doing as we were led. What a terrific blessing we received! We thank Juan for spearheading this effort and look forward to participating again next year!! (Just a thought — wouldn’t it be nice to do something like this mid-year or even quarterly?? The need is great all year long…)
