During Dashboard Confessions we have been using a car to be our metaphor for the letter that Paul sent to Timothy about the church in Ephesus.  Structure and systems aren’t the glamourous part of the car, but we all take notice when something is broken or not working properly.  The church is the same way.  She needs structure and systems to help guide a body of believers down the right path.

Just like a car cannot function without fuel, a church cannot move forward without the consistent giving of people.  It takes obedience and faithfulness to keep the church moving forward.  Paul shares a principle with Timothy: GODLINESS + CONTENTMENT = GREAT GAIN.

The challenge is no one ”feels” rich.  Are you rich?  Why do you not feel rich?

  • If you make at least $37,000, then you are in the top 4% wage earners in the world!
  • If you make at least $45,000, then you are in the top 1% wage earners in the world!

Contentment is really the challenge!  [Job1:21; Ecclesiastes 5:15]

Read 1Timothy 6:6-10  GET RICH VS. BE RICH

GET RICH

1. What is your attitude towards money?  My money, I need more, I place my hope in money

2. What is your practice with money?  Selfish, Passive & sporadic giving, feel guilty

3. What is your result?  Fall into the trap or foolish & harmful desires, ruin, destruction, wander from the faith (notice the progression)

BE RICH

1. What is your attitude towards money? God’s money,  I have more than I need, hope in God

2. What is your practice with money?  Give, Active & intentional giving, feel grateful

3. What is your result?  Lay up treasure in heaven, take hold of true life

God is calling us to BE RICH!

What is your attitude towards money?

What is your practice with money?

What is resulting in you?
