Last week, Come and See!
The only thing some people heard was Fajitas at Uncle Julios. The real of effect of the sermon is that I saw several of you at Uncle Julios last week. That will preach.
No, seriously. Come and See is not enough. It wouldn’t be enough for Andrew, John, Simon (Peter), Philip, and Nathanael. Come and See is a great first step for someone to encounter Jesus, but the meeting must lead to Come and Follow!
Then he (Jesus) called the crowd along with the disciples and said, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” Mark 8:34
Follow me [akoloutheo] = to follow or join one who precedes [alpha = "beginning" + loutheo = "road"]
Isn’t that amazing, follow me means, “beginning road”
We live in a country where over 60% of people claim to be a “Christian”. However, the real sign of a believer is “Follow me”.
PERSONAL ASSESSMENT:
Who do you lead?
Who do you follow?
ARE YOU FOLLOWING JESUS? Luke 5:1-11
- Check your motivation.
- What is your bias for action?
- Can you follow directions?
- Check your perspective.
- Who gets the credit?
- Can you see the grander vision?
- Check your commitment.
- Will you pay the price?
- Will you obey or go your own way?
Jesus came to do the will of His Father. Jesus came to preach the good news. Jesus came to serve others.
Jesus left behind: heaven, his blood, his life. Jesus gives us resurrection!
