Tithing makes the difference in a person and in a church. The Bible teaches us that God’s supernatural way of funding His work in our world is through tithing. Is every member a tither? Not yet! When people give, there is no limit what God can do through our church. Look at these people in history who tithed.
Henry Cromwell, the founder of Quaker Oats, was so moved by a sermon by Dwight L. Moody that he made a remarkable commitment to the Lord. He said, “Lord, I can’t be a preacher, but I can be a good businessman. If you will make me money, I will use it in your services.” He gave far beyond the tithe for over 40 years.
William Colgate ran away from home at age 17. He tithed the first dollar he made as an employee. Soon he was made partner of the company and ultimately owned Colgate Palmolive Company. His giving grew from 20% to 30% to 40% and finally he was giving all his income to the Lord.
R.G. LeTourneau, creator and manufacturer of giant, earth-moving machinery, by the end of his career reversed percentages and gave God 90% while he lived on 10%.
J.L Kraft of Kraft Cheese Company was a tither.
Wallace Johnson, the founder of Holiday Inn, was a tither.
John D. Rockefeller Sr, was a tither.
J.C. Penny was a tither.
