      Marking Moments (Sunday Revisited)

Are you living in the middle of God’s promises?

      Deuteronomy 4:20

      Ephesians 1:13-14

      Hebrews 9:15

      1Peter 1:3-4

      Discipleship = hear and obey

Faith is moving forward (not wandering or going back to Egypt)

      • God cannot bless sin!
      • God can and will forgive sin.

      FAITH MOMENTS ARE MARKED:

      • When God does something great.  Joshua 4:1-7

      • When we obey God’s words and ways no matter the cost.  Joshua 4:8-18

      • When we share our spiritual markers.  Joshua 4:19-24

“Easy answers and easy challenges produce shallow convictions.” Mark Batterson

What do these stones mean?  Did you grow up with spiritual markers?

      • Sign = God’s power and God’s promises (Slavery –> freedom)
      • Memorial = God’s faithfulness
      1. For Israel
      2. For future generations  Deuteronomy 6:1-9
      3. For all people

      Two dangers:

      • Amnesia = to forget
      • Nostalgia = stuck in the past

My Spiritual markers (practical implications for you and your family)

      • My first Bible (Brown, King James Bible with my name on the front)
      • Green Carpet Square (from the BSU building at Stephen F. Austin State University)
      • Pictures (Wedding, Belle my dog)
      • Blessing treasure box (My kids will open on 18th birthday)
      • Nail (I stepped in this nail on my first middle school mission trip)
      • Rock (First funeral I lead for a 7th grade boy)
      • Runner’s Baton (Given to me by the former pastor Dee Whitten)

What has God done in your life? (Salvation & baptism)

What are your faith moments? (Standing stones)

      Who will share those with?

      Faith is Moving Forward

Since faith is about moving forward, how has Water’s Edge impacted you?

      What is your Water’s Edge?

What step do you need to take?

What needs to change in your worship?

What step do you need to take in giving?  Do you trust God with your money?

What step do you need to take in joining and investing in a Bible Study group?

Who and how do you need to serve?

What sin do you need to confess and then turn away from?

What places do you need to avoid?

What people do you need to separate from?

Do you need to get married or move out?

Do you need to check into rehab?

Do you make that phone call or visit?

Do you need to go to the doctor?

Do you need to start eating better and begin exercising?

      What are you putting off?

Who do you need to forgive?

What is holding you in Egypt?

What is leading you to wander?

Are you ready for a new beginning?

Today is a day to take a step towards God!  Faith is moving forward!
