      A Glimpse of the Future

I ran across this so take a look and tell me what you think!

This video does a great job of illustrating why “global” and “mobile” are two words that deserve our focus. It’s well worth your time to watch it!

      Update on Amanda (missionary)

We prayed for Amanda, one of our own, as she left us to go serve for the next two years in Africa.  Now that she is gotten settled in her “home” away from home, I wanted to share this prayer update.  Let’s be fatihful in praying for her as she serves the Lord!

A Message from MandyI have moved out to the region I will be working as a humanitarian for the next two years. When we arrived at the compound, we found our new home covered in dirt from a recent sand storm.  When I went to the outhouse, which thankfully has a western toilet, I could only see red dirt, no porcelain white. Hence deep spring cleaning ensued for the next two days straight. It is amazing how the compound began to feel like home as we cleaned and organized. Kristen and Teresa were troupers and scrubbed on the third day our roach invested stove till it sparkled white. Don’t worry the roaches crawl out when we light the oven J We hope to get a new stove that actually has all of its knobs and can sit next to the counter instead of on it. Cooking to say the least has been good for my calves, who knew all those years of ballet would be used to cook here. The four of us have really been growing together as a family and have been blessed by the Father. Lift up continued unity, open communication, and loving support for each other.            Since arriving we have made it a point to go into the local market for all of our food about every other day. We have had the opportunity to practice lots of Arabic and have made friends easily. My hope is that as I continue to learn new phrases and internalize the book in Arabic, I can go down and sit with my vegetable lady friends and love on them. Today Kristen and I went and just smiled and talked to every female we could. I believe that we may have even been invited to a few houses, unfortunately we don’t know enough about town as to where the ladies live. Our plan is to make bread for our neighbors tomorrow and go visit them and then go back to the market on Wednesday to invite our friends to our compound for tea. Lift up these encounters, may we be able to share the love of the father. Also as we are looking for language tutors this week, may the provider be glorified in this request.              Interestingly enough, we have not seen a single foreigner in the market these past four days, considering how many NGOs are working here. Many of them send their cooks and have their drivers take them all over town so they can stay in their compounds or at the office/camps they work at. Since we don’t have a car yet, I believe we are fortunate to have the opportunity to take public transport or walk to the market, cause we get to be amongst the people here. Lift up me finding my place here in the NGO world and learning my job quickly.  Praise: The Father has renewed my strength and confidence in language learning. Team dynamics in the city became very close and unified before we headed west. The Father softened my heart so much to the short term team as I heard their passion and heart for the people. We had great family times with the Father. Thank you for the power supplied through your requests on my behalf. Love, Mandy

      Cheering for Jesus (Kurt Warner)

Well I know I brag a “little” about my favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys.  But with them at home during the Super Bowl, I have been asked who I am cheering for.  Obviously, I do not have any vested interest in either team.  I privately do not want the Steelers to pass the Cowboys...
